如果在大气的各高度上，等压面和等密度面（或等比容面）相重合，则根据状态方程知，等压面也与等温面重合，就称这样的大气为正压大气。在正压大气中，等压面上没有等温线出现，在两个等压面之间垂直气柱的平均温度处处相等。也即两个等压面之间气层厚度出处相等，因而地转风不随高度改变，或者说热成风为零。
