次级文化（sub-culture），与社会一般文化有关，又有自身特征的文化。一个复杂的社会文化，不仅有其统一的共同部分，还有各种不同部分。如一个国家的不同民族，既有统一的祖国文化，又有其特有的民族文化。青年人常有其特别的行为、思想、服饰及语言，被称为“年轻人文化”。包括职业、教育、地区、国家、社会阶级、年龄、性别、民族等各种不同性质的文化。社会中的个人，既受共同文化的规范，也生活在各种次级文化中，随时受其影响。学校是专门教育机构，宜形成有利的学校文化，以利于教育目的的达成。
