棒棒军是对一个特定群体的称呼。在重庆，有这样一群人，他们爬坡上坎，肩上扛着一米长的竹棒，棒子上系着两根青色的尼龙绳，沿街游荡揽活，他们来自农村，是重庆街头的临时搬运工，被重庆市民称为“棒棒军”，也成为当地独有的文化符号。2011年11月1日重庆市社科院发布调查报告，称重庆主城棒棒军已经开始走向消失的境地。
