就宁玛巴而言，根本上师是传授窍诀并指引直至大圆满证悟的上师。修习密法，最重要的是找到自己的根本上师，找到具德的根本上师并依止其教言修行可以即生成就，即使因为自己不够精进，也会因为根本上师的加持最终往生佛刹，不再入轮回。
慈尊根本上师，出类拔萃，犹胜一切诸佛！

具德珍贵的根本上师！乞加持弟子得以如是修行。

而那些你的根本上师和伟大的成就者们，如果你希望他们长久住世，最好的方法就是减少吃肉或者不再吃肉。
And your own Root Guru and all the great beings, if you want them to live long, the best method to do is to reduce meat or not eat it.
