树形网络是树形拓扑从总线拓扑演变而来，形状像一棵倒置的树，顶端是树根，树根以下带分支，每个分支还可再带子分支。树形网络也叫多星级型网络。树形网络是由多个层次的星型结构纵向连接而成，树的每个节点都是都是计算机或转接设备。一般来说，越靠近树的根部，节点设备的性能就越好。与星型网络相比，树形网络总长度短，成本较低，节点易于扩充，但是树形网络复杂，与节点相连的链路由故障时，对整个网络的影响较大。
