本底值是指没有进样时检测器的信号值，与检测器的类型有关，是无论如何也去不掉的值。测试的结果是在本底值之上增加多少的，相当于一个背景或者是噪声，也指空白值或基底值。以紫外分光光度法为例，当进行自动调零后，取出供试吸收池时，显示的吸光度即为本底值。
