暴龙类(Tyrannosaurs)是晚白垩世后半段最成功兽脚类恐龙类群，雄霸北美洲及亚洲大陆东部。 称暴龙类为恐龙中的末代皇帝再合适不过，因为暴龙类是在晚白垩纪肉食类恐龙（Carnosaurs）衰落和几近灭亡后才演化出巨大的体型，填补了肉食龙类留下的空白，占据了食物链顶端。化石证据显示，暴龙类是由一类较原始的虚骨龙类(Ceolurosauria）进化而来，起源可以追溯到侏罗纪。
