新景矿位于阳泉市西部，距离市中心18公里，濒临石太铁路和太旧高速公路。于1990年开工建设，总投资18亿元。1998年10月1日正式成立，现有员工4500名。井田煤层贮藏稳定，均为优质无烟煤。可采煤层8层，主采3#、8#、15#煤。一期工程可采储量1.6亿吨，采区服务年限52.4年，年设计生产能力220万吨，按“十五”发展规划，到2005年矿井产量将达400万吨以上。
