技术密集型是指由于使用机器设备较多，生产技术和劳动生产率水平较高，而单位劳动占用的物化劳动较多的那一类型的经济活动。技术密集程度的高低，一般与机械化、自动化程度和科学技术水平成正比，与操作人数成反比。那些综合运用现代化科学技术、需用较多科研时间和产品开发费用、生产高精尖产品的部门，如电子、航天、原子能等企业或行业，即均属此类。
