溶有引发剂的单体以液滴状悬浮于水中进行自由基聚合的方法称为悬浮聚合法。整体看水为连续相,单体为分散相。聚合在每个小液滴内进行,反应机理与本体聚合相同,可看作小珠本体聚合。同样也可根据聚合物在单体中的溶解性有均相、非均相聚合之分。如是将水溶性单体的水溶液作为分散相悬浮于油类连续相中,在引发剂的作用下进行聚合的方法,称为反相悬浮聚合法。
