恙螨(chigger mites)属于真螨目(Acariformes)、辐螨亚目(Actinetidida)、绒螨总科(Trombidioidea)中的恙螨科(Trombiculidae)和列恙螨科(Leeuwenhoekiidae)。恙螨仅幼虫营寄生生活，其它各期营自生生活。全世界已知约有3000余种（亚种）。我国已记录有420余种（亚种）。
