微重力又称为零重力，不是由地球的引力产生的，而是由于太空残余大气等因素造成的。严格说来，应是“零重量”而不是零重力。 最近美国航宇局的科学家对微重力环境下了一个比较科学的定义：微重力环境是指在重力的作用下，系统的表观重量远小于其实际重量的环境。目前产生微重力环境最常用的方法有4种：落塔、飞机、火箭和航天器。
