是指病人除正常的房室传导途径外，还存在有附加的房室传导途径（旁路），引起心电图异常伴心动过速倾向的临床综合征。激动经Kent束下传产生典型预激综合征，经James束下传者产生变异型预激综合征；还有通过Mahaim纤维下传者称束室纤维型预激综合征。另外还可发生一些变异情况，如间歇性预激、隐匿性预激及潜在性预激等。

心碎综合症最先是由日本医生在1990年左右发现的，他们给这种症状起了个绰号叫：“章鱼壶心肌症” （应激性心肌病）。
