翡翠，也称翡翠玉、翠玉、硬玉、缅甸玉，是玉的一种，颜色呈翠绿色（称之翠）或紫色（称之翡）。天然翡翠，只经过雕刻打磨，没有经过任何化学处理，没有经过高热、高压等人工伪作，是天然色泽，未经染色或电色，人称“正色”或“真色”。肉眼观察质地细腻，颜色柔和，石纹明显；轻微撞击，声音清脆悦耳；手掂有沉重感，明显区别于其它石质。其特征为密度应在3.32-3.34g/cm3之间，折射率应为1.66，显玻璃光泽，放大观察呈纤维交织结构，紫外灯下不起荧光。鉴定证书标明：“翡翠”或“天然翡翠”。
