外源性抗原是指APC从细胞外部摄取的，存在于细胞囊膜系统内的蛋白质抗原。此类抗原在被溶酶体降解成短肽后，通过MHCⅡ类分子提呈给CD4+T细胞识别，诱导CD4+T细胞参与的免疫应答。经专职APC摄取，加工，处理，提呈的外源蛋白质均属于此类，抗原识别受MHCⅡ类分子限制。
