所谓地震序列类型：即一次强震发生前后一定时间内（几天、几个月或 几年）发生的大大小小地震按时间排列起来称为一个地震序列。并根据各个地震序列中大小地震比例关系、能量释放特征等，将地震序列划分为主震型、震群型和孤立型等三个类型。在多数情况下，先发生的那个地震最大，被称为主震。后面跟着发生的那些较小的地震，被叫做余震。而且，一般说来，随着时间的推移，余震的频次有起伏地逐渐减少，震级也有起伏地逐渐减小。
