国际风格是指20世纪二三十年代出现的现代建筑风格。由希契柯克(Henry Russell Hitchcock，1903——1987)和约翰逊首先提出。当时的欧洲现代派建筑师注重功效，着眼于解决社会公众在生理和物理上的生活要求，采用新技术并强调建筑空间与建造上的经济性，建筑忽视风格历史传统和地方特点，其形式无论在世界上何处都是相似的方盒子、平屋顶、白粉墙的样式，因此得名。
