喉白喉也称白喉，是由白喉杆菌引起的呼吸道急性传染病，主要通过空气飞沫直接传播，其次为间接传染，即通过使用染菌的手巾、食具、玩具、书报等。白喉常见于秋冬和春季期间，多发生于10岁以下儿童，以2—5岁发病率最高，已很少见。
喉白喉约占20%左右。
