商号即厂商字号，或商业名称。商号作为企业特定化的标志，是企业具有法律人格的表现。商号经核准登记后，可以在牌匾，合同及商品包装等方面使用，其专有使用权不具有时间性的特点，只在所依附的厂商消亡时才随之终止。在一些生产厂家中，某种文字、图形，既是商号，又用来作为商标。但对于大多数生产厂家来说，商号与商标是各个不同的。一般而言，商标必须与其所依附的特定商品相联系而存在，而商号则必须与生产或经营该商品的特定厂商相联系而存在。
