所谓“琴、棋、书、画”当中的“琴”，是我国历史上最古老的弹拔乐器之一，现称“古琴”或“七弦琴”。古琴的制作历史悠久，许多名琴都有文字可考，而且具有美妙的琴名与神奇的传说。其中最著名的是齐桓公的“号钟”、楚庄王的“绕梁”、司马相如的“绿绮”和蔡邕的“焦尾”。这四张琴被人们誉为“四大名琴”。现在，这名扬四海的“四大名琴”已成为历史的陈迹，但它们对后世的影响并没有消失。
