同步齿形带简称同步带，也称正时带，它与常见的V带、平带等带传动方式相似，是一种挠性传动形式。同步齿形带是以钢丝绳或玻璃纤维绳为强力层，外面复以聚氨酯或氯丁橡胶，带的内周制成齿形，使其与齿形带轮啮合。由于强力层承载后变形小，能保持齿形带的周节不变，故带与带轮间没有相对滑动，从而保证了同步传动，传动比恒定。
