反向作用(也称反向形成)，弗洛伊德经典精神分析理论里提出，反向作用是精神防御机制的一种，指个人采取一种与原意相反的行动来控制内心的焦虑。换言之，反向作用是人们在处理一些不能被接受的欲望与冲突时所采用的防御手段。为防止这些冲动爆发出来，不得不加强防御。其心理基础是因为内心的感情或冲动难以被他人所接受，为了加以抑制而采取与此相反的感情或行为。
