《北京科技报》创刊于1954年，2004年始改由《北京青年报》主办并全新改版。改版后的《北京科技报》以弘扬科学精神为己任，强调“阅读科学也是享受”，突出“我们不同于任何报纸”的差异化特征，力图为读者“展现智慧之美”。 2018年9月，北京科技报旗下的《科技生活》宣布接受读者用比特币订阅2019年的刊物，成为中国接受比特币订阅的首家媒体。
