为改善粉末流动性而使较细颗粒团聚成粗粉团粒的工艺。制粒是把粉末、熔融液、水溶液等状态的物料经加工制成具有一定形状与大小粒状物的操作。几乎所有的固体制剂的制备过程都离不开制粒过程。所制成的颗粒可能是最终产品，如颗粒剂；也可能是中间产品，如片剂。 药物制粒就是将原料（中药为浸膏）与一定比例的辅料相混合，用水或乙醇等作为润湿剂制成所需大小的颗粒。有些剂型如片剂、胶囊剂等，颗粒是一个中间体，而有些剂型如颗粒剂，颗粒是一个最终的产品，所以制粒工序或制剂工艺在制剂生产过程中是非常重要的环节。
