创业经济学是反映以创业为基础的经济发展规律，以经济规律为核心的社会发展规律的科学。它以创业主体与创业客体相互关系为主线，以机会的创造、把握和运用为核心，以提高创业者的素质为目的，综合哲学、经济学、管理学、行为科学、创业学的相关成果，展开自己的范畴体系。因此创业经济学是综合经济学，或以经济学为核心的综合社会学，是比现有的经济学更高层次更加系统的一般经济学、系统经济学。 创业经济学由我国著名学者陈世清先生创立，是第一个中国人的原创性经济学体系《对称经济学》的基础理论，也是创业管理学的理论基础之一。
