冲断层（thrust fault ）在地质术语中通常称逆冲断层，是指断层面倾角小于30度的低角度逆断层。冲断层一般总是将老地层推覆到较年轻的地层之上，造成地层在垂向上的重复叠置。由于冲断层的倾角平缓，甚至可似波状起伏，经剥蚀作用，冲断岩席若呈孤立的岩块残留在下盘较年轻的岩石之上，周围为断层线所围绕，就形成飞来峰；如果侵蚀作用仅在谷底局部切穿冲断层面，使下盘岩石得以在上盘岩石包围之中出露，则形成构造窗。
