冲孔是用冲击钻机把带钻刃的重钻头（又称冲锤）提高，靠自由下落的冲击力来削切岩层，排出碎渣成孔。冲击钻机有钻杆式和钢丝绳式两种。前者所钻孔径较小、效率较低、应用较少。后者钻孔直径大，可根据设计的桩径来修改钻头的大小，锤重在3000kg—10000kg（具体根据桩径的大小来确定锤重）。
