冈比亚鼠（Gambian pouched rat），是世界上已知的鼠类，原产于非洲。它们可长到91厘米长，体重超过4公斤，甚至比家猫体型还大。冈比亚鼠的正式名称是“大颊袋鼠”，它们因为喜欢把吃不了的食物存放在腮帮子里而得名。这种鼠寿命可达8年，性情温顺，许多人将它当宠物养。冈比亚鼠嗅觉极其灵敏，能准确嗅出地雷中的TNT炸药发出的气味，丝毫不亚于专业的探雷犬。
