城市污水稳定塘中最常见的一种塘型。 利用好氧、厌氧和兼性菌的共同作用。 兼性塘中存在着3个区域：表层好氧区，好氧菌与藻类共生，具有好氧塘的特点；底层厌氧区，积累在此区域内的固体杂质被厌氧菌充分分解；中部为好氧区与厌氧区之间的过渡区即兼性区，存在着可起两种作用的兼性菌，并通过兼性菌分解有机物。
