养蜂即蜜蜂养殖是人工饲养蜜蜂而取其产品包括蜂蜜、蜂王浆、蜂胶、花粉、蜂蜡、蜂蛹及蜂毒等产品的事业，包括在广义的畜产内，所以广义地说蜜蜂也是家畜。蜜蜂养殖的历史有数千年之久，蜂蜜的利用是从渔猎时代开始的。 公元前7000年的中石器时代，在西班牙的壁画中，就有女子攀藤采蜜的图。在公元前2600年埃及第五王朝的寺庙里，遗存有刻着养蜂人向蜂窝吹烟驱蜂的浮雕。这是世界上最早饲养蜜蜂的史实。历史学家以及研究者从研究甲骨文的成果推断，我国从殷商时代已有养蜂。
