指在同一矿区（矿床）内有两种或两种以上都达到各自单独的品位要求和储量要求、各自达到矿床规模的矿产。共生矿中的成矿元素往往具有相似的地球化学性质，而且成矿地质条件相近，并在统一的成矿过程中形成。例如，沉积喷流型铅锌矿床中，铅和锌都达到独立矿床规模，它们就是共生矿。
