八大艺术，主要指用形象来反映现实但比现实有典型性的社会意识形态，包括文学、绘画、音乐、舞蹈、雕塑、戏剧、建筑、电影八大类别。八大艺术的分类来源已不可考，但其区别于乔托·卡努杜所提出的第七艺术在内的七种艺术，两者内容和思考脉络均有所差异。而近年来所提出的第九艺术（电子游戏）则是承接着八大艺术而提出的，因为它具备了前八大艺术的优点，并创新了一种主动性的浸入赏析方式，具有很强的代入性，可以体会到日常生活所没有的场景。
