是指数据、信息或知识的可视化表现形式。信息图形主要应用于必须要有一个清楚准确的解释或表达甚为复杂且大量的信息，例如在各式各样的文件档案上、各个地图及标志、新闻或教程文件，表现出的设计是化繁为简。公元1958年，Stephen Toulmin提出了一种图形化的理论模型，后来成为有影响力的理论及其应用。国内做这种新型视觉内容的平台有几家，如云图网，腾讯的数据控频道，搜狐的数字之道、图解财经，新浪的图解新闻 等。
...面设计师为了区别于数据统计领域的信息设计，强调数据可视化的表现方式，开始使用另一个名词--信息图形（Information Graphics），这个词可以体现平面设计在信息设计中的重要作用，这就是我们说的信息图形设计（Infographics）的全称。
