东垣故城即河北石家庄市东古城村。作为行政区划，秦朝以前为东垣邑，秦统一中国后设东垣县。据《资治通鉴》，高帝十一年（公元前196年）冬，刘邦率军平灭陈豨叛乱，“（陈豨将）赵利守东垣，帝攻拔之，更名曰真定。”此后行政区划几经变化，但一直保留真定名。清雍正元年（1723年），因避世宗胤禛讳，改真定府为正定府，辖一州及正定等十三县。1913年废正定府保留正定县。具体参见“正定县”词条。
