肠内容物不能正常运行或通过发生障碍时，称为肠梗阻。其中梗阻程度较轻者，称为不完全性肠梗阻，是腹部外科常见疾患。梗阻以上的肠腔有扩张，并由于长期肠蠕动增强，肠壁呈代偿性增厚。
