abstract:Joseph Carmack Jones (born December 13, 1941 in Lebanon, Tennessee) was a coach for the Kansas City Royals in 1987 and 1992. He played in the minor leagues as a second baseman in the Chicago White Sox system from 1963 through 1969.
He took up formal drum instruction at age 10 and began studying jazz two years later, citing the work of masters like Art Blakey, Philly JoeJones, Max Roach, Tony Williams, Elvin Jones and Roy Haynes as early influences.
