天蓬，天神名。话说远古时代，紫薇大帝统御人、神、鬼三界（紫微大帝即北极星君），而其手下有一位生于周时的首席爱将姓卞名庄，被封为九神之首天蓬。后来因天蓬表现极佳，深得紫微大帝的信任，于是被提拔为为“天蓬元帅”，居四圣之首。故“天蓬”一名，为星宿神之称。
