For a rubber ball, you could use a black or red specular light instead of white which would make the ball appear less shiny.
Specular reflection: The light that reflects off objects with a shiny surface.
The use of artificial light was well executed, as is evident by the specular highlights of the paint on the face to give it that extra shiny look.
If your light is very bright, you will have a very strong specular highlight in the rendering.
It is important to uncheck the "Affect specular" slot, we don't want any specular reflection from that light, only diffuse light.
You can't make anything act like a mirror with specular maps, but you can alter the brightness and the colour you will see when you place a light above it.
Diffuse, specular, emission textures or light maps will be compressed into PVR4 format.
The specular reflected light above water surface, including sun-glint and sky-glint, is one of the key factors that affect remote sensing of water color.
The scene in this sample is rendered using a pixel shader to control the ambient, diffuse, and specular contribution of each light at every pixel.
