The fifth and last book in the series is a book about patterns and pattern languages.
Architecture Patterns and Pattern Languages describe blueprints for architectures that have been used successfully.
Patterns and pattern languages have been used by many disciplines, ranging from physiology and processes to project management and software engineering.
There are many patterns and pattern languages concerned with the distribution, interaction, and construction of components. I provide a few examples here.
Patterns and pattern languages capture and formally codify good designs and best experience-based practices in a way that it is possible for others to reuse them.
However, this is an area that is ripe for further research as we look to go beyond catalogs of meta-patterns and recognize, organize and disseminate pattern languages that focus on meta-patterns.
