Objective To study the dual effects of calcium antagonists on ischemic hypoxic injury of hippocampal neurons cultured in vitro by using flunarizine (FNZ) and the mechanism of its action.

The results suggested that the increased endothelin level of ischemia brain territory was important factor leading to ischemic neuronal injury, and FNZ had protective effects on cerebral ischemia.
