Translated by Xu Yuanchong, this famous poem, with four couplets, was written by Du Fu (712-770, Tang Dynasty) when he was living and farming in Chengdu.

"Two clear months are a Xiao, the quasi belongs to Yang state 24 bridges", from that time on after, every awake Yang of state, then and on any also round anti to turn on Xu Ning and Du to herd.
“二分明月一声箫，半属扬州廿四桥”，自此以后，凡是提起扬州，便无论如何也绕不开徐凝和杜牧了。
