However, SCTP provides new features beyond TCP, such as multi-streaming and multi-homing, that are critical to certain workloads, such as telephony signaling over IP networks.
Multi-homing is another feature of SCTP that separates it from traditional transport layer protocols.
Multi-homing allows a single SCTP endpoint to support multiple IP address and provides redundancy in situations where there are multiple routes to a single destination.
The two most important enhancements in SCTP over traditional transport layer protocols are the end-host multi-homing and multi-streaming capabilities.
Multiple origin AS conflicts may result from multi-homing, misconfiguration or malicious attack.
