Canadian surfer-dude-turned-billionaire Chip Wilson is stepping down from his executive role at Lululemon, the hugely successful purveyor of pricey yogagear he founded 12 years ago.
The Canadian company has built a billion-dollar business selling premium yogagear at high prices, but the glitch with the recalled pants marks yet another recent stumble with products on its store shelves.
The Vancouver-based yogagear maker's statement comes a day after a New York Post report that was widely circulated by the media recounted one woman's tale of being asked by sales staff to bend over to prove that the yoga pants she was trying to return were sheer.
Since its founding 14 years ago, Lululemon has grown steadily alongside the yoga boom, selling pricey gear designed to stretch and support during downward dog and warrior pose.
