Once the victim received a text message that included a certain protocol, the malware wouldsendthe collected data back to the command-and-control server.
The dish wouldsendthe ISP's data up to one of the satellites (in low earth orbits to minimize signal delay), which would then relay thedata back down to a backbone access point.
This botnet would then send a large number of requests to the DNS which would reply, resulting in a much larger amount of data being fired at the target, causing it to be swamped.
As luck would have it, a project called NOvA, which should start collecting data in the spring of 2013, will send neutrinos through the Earth's crust from Batavia to an underground detector 810km away in Minnesota.
