My parents were outgoing, hospitable people, their friends culled from among my father's associates at the office and from the women who along withmy mother had helped to organize the Parent-Teacher Association at newly built Chancellor Avenue School, where my brother and I were pupils.
One of my first steps was to set up a meeting with the Kansas Parent Information Resource Center (KPIRC) to discuss our approach to involving families.
Full disclosure: I spend a ton of time withmy children, never travel, barely work and am a helicopter parent like you can't believe, and yet even I hired a baby nurse, because newborns are scary little aliens who look like you might smoosh them at any moment.
