In 1940, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill made his famous "We shallfight on the beaches... weshall never surrender" speech to the House of Commons.
Only so can we be quite sure that, in defending democracy, weshall not betray it, and that the freedom for which wefight is that freedom for all men on which alone permanent peace can be built.
