Governments have appropriated the monetary unit for their own benefit by declaring it the only preferred monetary unit for paymentof taxes to the State.
The council said the project was only possible due to a government subsidy which made a payment for every unitof electricity generated by solar panels.
The layoffs are a result of Lloyds' takeover of mortgage lender HBOS last year, and the bank said most of the cuts would take place in its operations unit, including IT and collections and payment services.
