The Director-General concluded by encouraging the Russian authorities to upsacale their cooperation with UNESCO, notably by ratifying the Conventions for the diversity of cultural expressions, the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage as well as the underwater cultural heritage.
The main purpose of the project was the safeguarding and promotion of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, enlarge knowledge of theses Masterpieces proclaimed by UNESCO among young generation, and promote the participation of youth and children in the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage and cultural diversity, enhancing intercultural dialogue for social cohesion and understanding.
After the success of this workshop, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in close collaboration with UNESCO Phnom Penh Office, will organize two national workshops this coming year on community-based inventorying of intangible cultural heritage and preparing nominations for the intangible heritage list.
Generously supported by Qatar and co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Qatar, ALECSO and UNESCO, this meeting was the occasion to plan increased cooperation within the region for the effective safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage.
