He said his party had launched a petition of concern over the motion because some members of the UDR had acted outside of the law and sometimes in collusion with loyalist paramilitaries.
The DUP's Mervyn Storey said many people wanted to "airbrush the gallant history" of men and women who served in the B-Specials and UDR, but said that would not happen as long as members of his party were in the assembly.
