The activities stretch over most of the summer, from a ten-week torch relay beginning on May 19th to the closing ceremony of the Paralympics on September 9th.
The organizers have overcome a logistical challenge to ensure the Olympic Flame traveled within an hour of 95% of people in the UK, the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey during the 70-day Torch Relay.
The Commonwealth Games may come second to the Olympics when it comes to the world's biggest multi-sports events, but the baton relay is actually far more extensive than the torch relay.
